20) 1960’s Strand 123 Theatre Light

Works by Marsel - Lamp No.20

A beautiful UK Strand Pattern 123 production theatre light restored into a unique designer home/office floor/table lamp.

Polished to perfection, this strand was obsessively cut and polished for over 20 hours to achieve a flawless mirror finish, and a very sore neck for me. As the saying goes, “no pain, no glory”. These patt 123’s are now becoming very difficult to obtain, this one being the 2nd last in my collection, and I wont be selling my last one.

The 500watt globe has been removed and replaced with a screw in bayonet which now takes regular household energy saver globes. The AC cable has been replaced with cotton weave cable and an easy on/off switch installed. The lamp easily pops open to change the globe when required.

A stunning investment piece which will continue to appreciate in value, and make the centre piece to any modern home or office.

19) 1960’s Vintage Industrial Floor Lamp

Works by Marsel - Lamp No.19

A very nice large vintage industrial factory fan heater converted into a unique floor lamp.

I came across this piece by chance and had intended restoring it as the industrial fan it was but when I pulled it apart, the transformer was burnt out. Circumstances decided its fate, so it has been rewired with 2 light fittings that allow the original switch to turn on one or both globes as desired. It emits a white light from the centre piece and a soft red glow from inside the surround.

The piant has been stripped and the metal polished to a rustic industrial finish. The bare metal has then been polycoated to protect it from rust. Placed on a vintage surveyors tripod with black and polished aluminium legs to suit.

A cool unique industrial look in your home or office.

18) Strand Patt 23 Theatre Light on Tripod

Works by Marsel - Lamp No.18

Another great 1970’s Strand pattern 23 theatre light restored into a designer home office lamp.

After polishing up the lamp, I decided to replace the inner vent covers of the lamp with real polished brass inserts to compliment the tripod it is on. Over 20 hours of machine polishing goes into each lamp I restore.

The globe bayonet has been replaced as usual and it now takes regular household screw in globes. A cotton weave cable has also been installed with an easy on/off switch.

Another old theatre relic salvaged and given a second life.

17) 1960’s USA Bantam Super Spot Theatre Light

Works by Marsel - Lamp No.17

A great American, this 60’s Bantam has such an intricate design, with so many vents and heat brushes, that all come together and give the lamp so much character.

This particular one has a long rear section which used to house a fan venting system to keep the 1000W globe cool inside the small chasis. My new industrial calico buff really came in handy on this one as most of the frame is metal instead of aluminium, which is alot harder to polish up to a mirror finish. The globe and bayonet have been changed to take regular household screw in globes, but I have retained the original on/off switch as it has as much character as the lamp.

Set on a hand made classic timber tripod with chromed metal linkages, this Bantam has become a real show stopper. A wonderful original vintage investment piece in your home or office.

An original British made 1920’s Thornton Pickard photographic enlarger.

A wonderful antique piece of photographic history, this old solid oak enlarger has been modified into a home office, lamp. Some of the internal sections needed to be manipulated in order to allow for a cable to pass inside, and the front lens manipulated to disperse the light.

Presented on a classic black wooden tripod with polished linkages. The tripod feet allow for height adjustment adn the centre rod also extends up for even greater height if desired.

It now takes regular household light globes, and would make a great feature in the home theatre room.

Another beautiful UK Strand patt.23 production theatre light converted into a unique home office lamp.

The tripod legs close down to adjust the height and the centre rod also comes up for further height if required.

This is a 1950’s Kodak photography light. Originaly used as a handheld adjustable light in photography studio’s, it has been modified into an original floor standing designer home/office lamp.

Another beautiful English 60’s Strand pattern 23 theatre spot light. Polished and restored into a unique home office collectible investment piece.

A classic body shape and a pleasure to restore. I was testing a new calico industrial buffing pad on this piece and the results speak for themselves. Polished to absolute perfection, a perfect mirror finish achieved.

As usual, the 500watt globe and bayonet have been removed and replaced with a screw in bayonet which now takes regular household low watt globes, and an easy on/off switch installed.

11) Early 1920’s Production Theatre Light

Works by Marsel - Lamp No.11

By far the oldest theatre light I have restored to date. This amazing piece was found in Tasmania and was in pretty rough shape even for its age.

Firstly all the paint, grit, and grime were removed and then all the surface rust removed. The metal was then cut and polished to a high sheen. The lens was surprisingly in perfect condition with no chips or cracks. The high watt globe & bayonet was replaced with a regular household bayonet for standard globes.

The tripod used is also a very old 1900’s photography solid oak tripod making a perfect match for this charming old “Steampunkt” lamp.

A classic piece of early century theatre history pashionately restored into a unique Home/Office lamp.
