10) 1960’s Solar Spot Theatre Light

Works by Marsel - Lamp No.10

An original Australian made 1960’s “Solar Spot” production theatre spot light and vintage tripod converted into a unique home/office floor lamp.

This is a metal framed lamp making it much more difficult to polish than the aluminium Strand lamps, but well worth the effort. The Solar Spots have that classic Hollywood look. The metal has been completely polycoated for a tough permanent finish, which will never fade and protects the lamp from rust.

The tripod is an original vintage telescope tripod. The timber has been sanded back and re-lacquered to as new.

A beautiful original classic, passionately restored and looking for a new home.

9) Strand patt. 23 Theatre Lamp

Works by Marsel - Lamp No.9

Another beautiful Strand Pattern 23 1970’s theatre spot light polished and converted into a magnificent home/office floor lamp. This particular one was in excellent condition to begin with and so has polished up brilliantly. Even the lens has absolutely no chips or cracks in it.

The tripod it is on is an original antique San Georgio photography tripod with beautiful brass linkages and solid oak legs and is height adjustable to suit your needs. Use it as a floor or table lamp as desired.

The 500 watt globe and bayonet have been removed and replaced by a screw in bayonet which now takes regular energy saver household globes. A new vintage cotton weave AC cable has been installed with an easy on off earthed switch.

A wondeful custom original piece of UK theatre history in your home or office.

8) World War II Copper Flood Light

Works by Marsel - Lamp No.8

An original 1940’s WW2 large Copper Flood Light converted into an impressive home/office floor lamp on tripod.

An ugly duckling turned into a beautiful swan, this WW2 relic had layers upon layers of paint, grit, and grime and even a bullet hole in the back which I disguised as the cable plug. If lamps could talk, the stories this one could tell.

The paint and grit were carefully removed and the entire lamp polished to a high sheen. The lamp itself is made of copper, and the bracket and linkages are solid brass. The original lens was cracked in two so has been replaced by a new modern glass shade. The 2000 watt globe has been retired and a new screw in bayonet installed which now takes regular houshold energy saver globes.

The tripod it is on is an original 1940’s surveyors stand. The linkages are solid brass and have also been polished to suit. The solid oak legs have also been sanded and polished up. A support chain has been installed to secure and support the heavy lamp head. A magnificent, impressive piece of world war history preserved as an art piece and given a 2nd life.

7) JBM Classic Large 1950s Theatre Light

Works by Marsel - Lamp No.7

An original Australian made polished 1950’s John B. Masson & Associates Melbourne large classic theatre spot light on a unique polished vintage surveryors tripod.

This magnificent piece is my biggest lamp project to date not only for it impressive size but also for the fact that it is made of metal, not aluminium, and hence much more difficult to polish up. The 1000 watt lamp and bayonet have been removed and replaced with a standard screw in bayonet for regular houshold energy saver globes. The exposed metal has also been treated to prevent rusting and protect the final finish.

An impressive piece of Australian theatre history that will make the centre piece to any modern home of office.

6) Vintage Strand 123 Theatre Light

Works by Marsel - Lamp No.6

This is a beautiful UK original Strand pattern 123 theatre light. Polished  to a magnificent shine and placed on a vintage miller photography tripod. The bayonet has been changed to fit regular household globes and the tripod stripped back to bare and polished.

The 123’s are by far my favorite model of the Strand lamp becuase of their bullet like appearance. They also cast a much broader light than the other models.

I only have a few more of these patt 123’s in my collection so this one may be the last one I sell for a while. A rare piece of UK theatre history in your home or office.

4) Retro Lunar Lamp

img_3653.jpg

Works by Marsel – Lamp No.4

An original custom made lamp, made entirely of retro scrap parts.

This lamp was a work in progress as I managed to piece together scrap parts from here and there over time. Once completed, it looked very spaced out so I called it “The lunar lamp”.

The Dr Who Tardis Cupboard

A full size Dr Who Police Box Tardis Cupboard.

I decided to make this Tardis after the first of the new Dr Who episodes aired on TV. Made entirely of MDF, this project was a labour of love that took over 3 months of weekends to complete

After completing the first half, I realised it was way too heavy being MDF and did not complete the back half. Even this half was too heavy to sell so it has become my bedroom wardrobe. I may put it up for sale one day if I drum up the courage to make another complete Tardis from light weight ply wood instead.
